Public policy decisions made at Queen’s Park have a direct impact on the business environment in Vaughan and across Ontario. From taxation and regulation to infrastructure and workforce development, the decisions taken at the provincial level shape the conditions under which businesses invest, grow, and create jobs.
To help members better understand this process and strengthen relationships with decision-makers, the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce recently brought a delegation of Vaughan business leaders to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for a special reception.
The visit offered members a unique opportunity to engage directly with elected officials and gain a firsthand look at Ontario’s legislative process. Participants took part in a private tour of the historic legislative building, observed Question Period from the gallery, and met with key provincial leaders, including Premier Doug Ford.
The reception was hosted by Vaughan’s provincial representatives, including Minister Stephen Lecce, Minister Michael Tibollo, and MPP Laura Smith. Their invitation provided Vaughan business leaders with an opportunity to discuss the priorities and challenges facing the local business community and to reinforce the importance of policies that support investment, competitiveness, and job creation.
Beyond the opportunity to connect with government leaders, the visit underscored the value of active business advocacy. Chambers of commerce play an important role in ensuring that the perspectives of employers are reflected in public policy discussions. By facilitating direct engagement between members and policymakers, the Vaughan Chamber helps strengthen the relationship between business and government and ensures that Vaughan’s voice is represented where decisions are made.
As Vaughan continues to grow as one of Ontario’s leading economic centres, maintaining strong connections with all levels of government remains essential. Investments in infrastructure, housing, workforce development, and economic competitiveness will shape the city’s future and influence the ability of local businesses to succeed. Experiences like this reflect the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to connecting business leaders with the policymakers who help shape the economic future of Vaughan and Ontario.
