The Vaughan business community came together to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Awards. We honoured the 14 different businesses and individuals who shined brightest in our city.

Emcee, James Cunningham, comedian & host of Eat Street TV, had the crowd of over 700 attendees laughing throughout the evening.

The first award, the 2019 Philanthropic Business Person of the Year, was presented by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua to Mr. Giovanni “Papa John” De Gasperis , Founder of TACC Group of Companies. Giovanni accepted the award with his family members standing by his side. Also in attendance, in support of Giovanni, was former Mayor of Mississauga, Hazel McCallion.

“In life, you can achieve great things without being loud, you can achieve great things by being quiet, by being caring, by being compassionate, by being a true person who lives the real self.

It is with a great deal of honour and humility that I announce that the winner of this prestigious award in our city, is Carlo’s and Silvio’s and Michael’s dad, he’s Anna’s husband. He’s our community’s teacher, he is a gentleman who has given to our hospital, who has given to Yellow Brick House, who has given to the food bank, who has given to Villa Columbo – this is only a partial list.

But what he has given to us that is more important than all of those things, is an incredible presence in our community, that is a constant reminder of how to live a purposeful life.” – Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua
